Little England INVALSI test results 2023: scores above the Lombardy and national average

Every year the primary school children in Years Two and Five are involved in the National Learning Survey prepared by INVALSI, a body delegated by the Ministry of Education.

As in previous years, our students’ results are higher than the national and Lombardy average.

Details of the results

Year Two 2022-23 school year – Italian and Mathematics

Starting from the analysis of the data relating to the Year Two Italian tests, we note a significantly higher score compared to the national data.

Specifically, you can notice:

ITALIAN:

• The average “reading comprehension” score of our students was 64.5 compared to the national average of 51.9.
• The average “linguistic exercises” score of our students was 89.9 compared to the national average of 70.2 (with a class that reached an average of 96.5).

MATHEMATICS:

• Our students’ average “numbers” score was 63.9 compared to the national average of 47.9.
• The average “data and forecasts” score of our students was 67.0 compared to the national average of 57.6.
• The average “space and figures” score of our students was 74.8 compared to the national average of 57.5.
• Our students’ average “relations and functions” score was 68.2 compared to the national average of 54.6.

The positive gap is also seen in the average for “dimensions of knowing” (72.5 compared to the Italian 56.0), “solving problems” (63.9 compared to the Italian 53.1) and “arguing” (60.8 compared to 52.4).

Year Five 2022-23 school year – Italian, Mathematics and English

The Year Five students’ scores are also above both the average for Lombardy and the national average in all three areas analysed by the national institute.

Specifically, you can notice:

ITALIAN:

• Our students’ average score for “narrative text” was 82.0 compared to the national average of 67.9.
• The average score for “expository text” of our students was 71.3 compared to the national average of 61.9.
• Our students’ average score for “reflection on the language” was 69.6 compared to the national average of 57.4.

MATHEMATICS:

• The average score for “numbers” of our students was 70.4 compared to the national average of 51.3.
• Our students’ average score for “data and forecasts” was 75.8 compared to the national average of 58.0.
• The average “space and figures” score of our students was 73.1 compared to the national average of 56.5.
• Our students’ “relations and functions” average score was 70.5 compared to the national average of 52.8.

The positive gap is also seen in the scores for “dimensions of knowing” (72.5 compared to the Italian 56.0), “solving problems” (63.9 compared to the Italian 53.1) and “arguing” (60.8 compared to 52.4).

ENGLISH:

• The average “reading” score of our students was 97.3 compared to the national average of 80.1.
• Our students’ average “listening” score was 97.6 compared to the national average of 78.7
